Fernanda Gellona
Med Device Lab
Coordinatore esecutivo
Description
In 1986 in Milan, she joined Assobiomedica, a newly established trade association representing the medical devices sector (then referred to as “surgical and medical devices for human use”). In 2000, the Association decided to broaden its scope by adding more institutional topics to the purely technical ones that had previously formed the basis of its activities. For this purpose, she was appointed to open and lead the Rome office, with the mandate to develop relationships and collaborations with relevant institutions in the sector, scientific societies, professional associations, and patient organizations.
In 2009, she was appointed General Director, a position she held until her retirement at the end of 2024.
In 2019, she led the transformation from Assobiomedica to Confindustria Medical Devices, expanding the scope of competencies and areas of activity of the Association.
She has been a member of technical committees at the Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità) and of the Board of IMQ; she has contributed to the creation of university master’s programs with Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Milano-Bicocca. She has also lectured in several master’s programs at the Catholic University of Rome.
In 2023, she contributed to the founding of Med Device Lab S.c.a.r.l., a public-private joint venture between Sapienza University of Rome and Confindustria Medical Devices, where she serves as Chief Executive Officer, a role she continues to hold today.
