He is a professor of computer science at the University of Siena. His research interests are in the field of Artificial Intelligence, with a particular focus on machine learning and game playing. In recent years, he has mainly worked on learning in relational domains within the continuum setting. He is interested in applying the developed models to problems in pattern recognition and web mining. He is also very interested in discussing new computational models and their relationship with the human brain.
